The title of the film will be 'Retribution'. It will be a crime thriller based film that will also contain action scenes. I understand that i have not analysed many crime genre based RMAs, however i feel like i learned a lot by analysing similar types of clips and they have all helped me to realise what is needed in a film based on this genre. I have also done a great amount of further research as to how opening scenes in these films are put together. The plot idea is that the protagonist is a young secret agent who had very high potential but was kicked off the agency as he had to kill his partner in the past for reasons unknown. Someone finds out what he had to do which forces him to return to his previous life and relive certain memories he tried to forget.
The Opening Scene will be a short clip of the protagonist in his home where he is working away on a computer. It will be raining outside and very dull which gives off a sense of mystery and negativity. He will get up out of his chair and stare out of a window and look at the rain. This will trigger him to remember something inside his head and we will use an intense close up of his face to show that he is picturing it in his head. We will play noises and some very short dialouge e.g. screaming and a gunshot over the top of the video so we know what he is thinking of. However we will not reveal exactly what it is. It will cause him to go to another room and look at some of his posessions and files from the past where he was a secret agent and he will open a case with a gun and a file named 'Retribution' in it.
We will include an idea that we can carry throughout the scene. The character will have an obsession with keeping things straight and in order. We will use a rule of three to show this. He will be at his desk and have some pencils lined up in a row on the desk and one wont be straight and he will allign it so that it is level with the others. When he is looking out of the windown he will clean his glasses. When he is downstairs in the cellar, he will begin to clean the gun which is in the case. We have also finally decided to use the two settings of the Office in my house and My cellar. We will use all of the props shown in the photo we posted of potential ideas in a previous post.
We will use continuity editing, eye line matching and low key lighting which we feel will all add to a great sense of verisimilitude.
